The One Cottage Street
building, built in 1859 was originally used as a bailing and twine factory,
and later as an elastic mill. In 1976 it was turned over to the non-profit
Riverside Industries. They created a
supported transitional workshop space on the second floor for people with
mental and physical disabilities and renovated the remaining vacant areas of
the 5-story building to house artists’ studios.
